Virginia’s Hunt Country is storied for a reason.  Nowhere else in the United States can you find the same sense of history and tradition combined with a pastoral landscape of fields, forests, and meadows.  Miles of thoughtfully laid out bridal trails, coop jumps, and horse friendly gates weave in and out of farms and local villages.  The dramatic backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains only enhances the picture. Legendary local hunts such as Orange County, Old Dominion,  Piedmont Hunt, Middleburg, Keswick, and several others are the most famous and sought after hunts in the country, and regularly host visitors from England and Ireland.

Of course, local equestrian pursuits are not limited to riding to the hounds.  There is a very active local steeplechase circuit, and polo, show jumping, and dressage are all quite popular in the area.  Pony clubs abound, and there is also just the simple enjoyment of pleasure riding in a landscape that is tailor made for horses and riders.
